Since 2015
September has arrived, which means we can officially say it: the “Ber” months are here!
September, October, November, December — there’s just something special about this stretch of the year. The days slowly get shorter, the mornings eventually get a little cooler, pumpkins begin appearing on porches, favorite recipes make their way back into the kitchen, and calendars start filling with the traditions we look forward to year after year.
At Howell’s Mercantile, this is one of our favorite times of the year — and we’re ready for all of it.
September may not always feel like fall quite yet here in Eastern North Carolina, but that doesn’t stop us from getting excited.
This is the month when summer starts giving way to everything we love about the seasons ahead. It’s time to bring out the warm colors, add a new garden flag by the front door, find a favorite fall fragrance, and start thinking about all the gatherings and celebrations still to come.
Throughout Howell’s Mercantile, fall has been making itself right at home. You’ll find seasonal home décor, kitchen pieces, garden flags and textiles, home fragrances, gifts, apparel, and plenty of little finds that make it easy to welcome the season without completely redecorating your home.
Sometimes all it takes is a new pillow, a pumpkin tucked onto a shelf, or a fragrance filling the room to make it feel like fall.
And, of course, this time of year also means one of our favorite Howell’s Mercantile traditions is right around the corner.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM–2 PM because Farm Days is returning to Howell’s Mercantile!
Farm Days has become one of the days we look forward to most each fall. It’s a chance to slow down for a few hours, visit with neighbors and friends, enjoy some incredible displays and demonstrations, eat something delicious, listen to live music, and simply enjoy a good old-fashioned fall day together.
This year, the Eastern Antique Power Association will once again join us with an incredible display of antique tractors, vintage cars, and classic tools. Whether you remember seeing equipment like it years ago or you’re introducing a younger generation to it for the first time, there is always something interesting to see.
We’re also excited to welcome back chainsaw artist Corey Lancaster! Watching a piece of wood transform through chainsaw carving is an experience all its own, and we’re thrilled to have Corey returning for another Farm Days.
And what would Farm Days be without good music and good food?
Chandler James will be joining us with live music, and our friends at Prado’s will be back serving up some of our favorite local eats.
Inside Howell’s Mercantile, we’ll have even more happening. You can sample delicious tastings from some of our favorite fall food lines, discover new merchandise throughout the store, and take advantage of event-only specials.
Plus, Farm Days is a Double Points Day! Howell’s Rewards members will earn 10 Rewards Points for every $1 spent in-store during the event.
One of the reasons we love Farm Days so much is that it brings together so many things that make fall special.
It’s tractors and old cars. Music playing outside. Food you look forward to all year. Running into someone you know. Kids discovering something they’ve never seen before. Shopping for something new for your home. And taking an ordinary Saturday and turning it into a tradition.
As a small, family-owned business, days like these mean a lot to us. We love getting to open our doors and grounds for an event that brings our customers, friends, families, local organizations, artists, musicians, and other small businesses together.
That sense of community is a big part of what Howell’s Mercantile has always been about.
September is only the beginning.
Ahead of us are pumpkins and falling leaves, Farm Days and cool mornings, Thanksgiving tables and Christmas lights, gift giving and gatherings, and all the little moments in between.
So whether you’re someone who has been ready for fall since July or you need a few more weeks before you’re willing to let summer go, we hope you’ll stop by Howell’s Mercantile and enjoy the season with us.
And most importantly, save the date:
